OK, my colleague and I have finally thought of a possible use for Wordle, Put students in pairs; give each student a word from a unit just studied, e.g. “genocide.” Pairs should type in as many words they can think of associated with term. Print the wordles to post in the classroom. Is this a worthwhile use of time? Is learning actually taking place? How is it different or better than handing students a piece of paper and a pack of markers to create a list of words by hand?
Another idea: have students create wordle signs describing each Dewey sectiion. Post signs at appropriate shelves. This would have some practical use.
